Original lithograph (colograph) in colours. 1949. Signed in pencil. Dated '49 in pencil. Numbered (71) from the edition of 75 impressions. Drawn by Moore in his studio in 1949 and the edition printed in 1949 at the Ganymed Studio, London. Issued by Ganymed Press, 1951. With their original issue label on the reverse.

Note: This is one of the most important early works by Henry Moore in a print medium. The composition is based on a group of drawings which he made in 1948. In 1949 he was approached by Bernhard Baer of the Ganymed Press in London to draw a colour print using their newly invented hand-created ‘colograph’ process, which was a form of colour lithography but using plastic sheets to transfer the hand-drawn lines to a plate. It allowed the most brilliant and subtle elements of colour and line which are seen to superb effect in this important composition. Moore made only three works in this medium, of which this is the first.
