Original lithograph in colours. 1956. Signed in pencil. Numbered (43) from the signed edition of 75 impressions (plus a few artist’s proofs). Drawn and editioned at the Mourlot studio, Paris 1956, as part of the first Bible series. Edition issued by Verve, Paris 1956.
Note: The first series of colour lithographs drawn by Chagall in 1956 on themes from the Old Testament for the publisher Verve were one of the most important groups of lithograph compositions by Chagall in the early post-war years. He returned to the Bible themes for a second series in 1960.
Apart from this signed edition there was an edition (on a machine press) used as the cover for the Bible album.

Very fine strong impression with strong colours. On pale cream wove Arches paper. Generally excellent condition; the slightest traces of old mounting. Sheet: 475 x 655mm. Image: 395 x 595mm. 15 ½ x 23 3/8ins.
