From the special edition of 25 unissued proof impressions reserved for Chagall himself (see Provenance below). The signed and issued edition of this lithograph was only 35 impressions. issued in the series:’ Regards sur Paris’, published by André Sauret, Paris 1963. Drawn and the edition printed at the Atelier Mourlot, Paris, 1960.
Note: There was also an unsigned edition of 180 impressions in reduced format in the album.
Provenance: This impression was a gift from Chagall to his great friend the writer and poet René Char. It was never framed or displayed by Char and, as such, is in absolutely exceptional fresh condition.
