From the regular first issued edition, published for the normal edition of the album: 'La Vie Artistique - Gustave Geffroy', Dentu Paris 1894. Edition of c.1000. Before all the reprinted editions. Excellent impression with wiped tone on the plate. On pale cream laid hollande-type paper. Excellent original condition. Full margins (?). Sheet: 244x188mm. Plate: 4 3/4 x 3 3/8ins. (120x85mm) After the very few first proofs this impression is one of the earliest editions of this famous etching. Julie was a favourite model for Renoir; she was the daughter of the impressionist painter Berthe Morisot who was married to the painter Édouard Manet's brother.
