Emil Nolde, 1857-1956
Kniendes Mädchen. Kneeling Girl. 1907.
Original etching with drypoint and aquatint. 1907. Signed in pencil. One of two known proofs before the edition , with the tone on the figure still dark and even (see note below). The issued edition in the lighter state was 37 impressions. Printed by Nolde and Felsing at the studio of Felsing, Berlin 1907.
Note: One of the most beautiful of Nolde’s early figure studies in etching and extremely rare in a pre-edition proof. For the issued edition the tone on the figure was lightened.
