Paul CézanneDejeuner sur L'Herbe. Lunch on the Grass. c.1900.

SOLD

Colour lithograph. c. 1900. Created from the maquette by Cezanne with the colour work by the studio of Auguste Clot. Originally commissioned by Cezanne's dealer Ambroise Vollard, probably for the third (never actually published) Album d'Estampes de la Galerie Vollard. c.1900. The album was never completed and Clot and Vollard pubished the edition separately, shortly after Cezanne's death in 1906. Edition of 100.

Impression on lightweight china paper (chine volant) and showing the colour registration marks.

Note: the tonality of the colours and the paper type suggest this was a pre-edition proof.

Fine impression on china paper with small margins, as printed. The 'china paper' is very delicate but excellent for the ink colours. The previous owner very correctly had it professionally backed with a support sheet. This will prevent future paper deterioration. Image overall 13 x 15 ins.
