Extremely fine impression with excellent unfaded colours. On pale cream wove Arches paper. Very fine original condition. The very faintest trace of previous mounting in the outer margins, not visible in the frame. Full margins.  Image: 63 x 52 cm. 24 3/4 x 20 1/2 ins.

Visiting the circus in Paris was a favourite pastime for Chagall and he revelled in the colours, the sparkle of the costumes and the lighting. He would always take his sketch book with him and this study of the bareback rider is amongst his finest circus-inspired lithographs of the 1960's.
