Etched by Magritte and printed at the Atelier Georges Visat, Paris 1966.  Note: Only the third etching completely created and worked on the plate by Magritte himself.

The title refers to the Ancient Greek Legend of Baucis and Philemon. In the legend Baucis was a figure renowned for hospitality - Magritte's tongue in cheek view of himself.

Beautiful impression with light ink tone on the plate.  On  pale cream light wove paper. Excellent condition with margins. 238 x 169mm. 9 x 6 5/8 ins.
