This is one of the great classic images of the 'American Nude' by Wesselman from the very important early part of his career. He drew it to help raise funds for SEDFRE - The Scholarship Education and Defense Fund for Racial Equality.  It epitomises the central features of his 1960s art, balance of colour, concept and form.   It is strongly drawn from the popular imagery of advertising, specially advertising hoards, which was to be Wesselmann's central contribution to the Pop aesthetic.

At this date Wesselmann's handling of the bold colour still retains elements of the traditional.   Some areas of colour have tonality and form variations, such as shading and the depiction of the background details introduces perspective.   It gives works such as this a very powerful visual presence.
